Swan Light The slow conveyor of the river takes in the light, and overnight has given us swans, early this year, the fresh white of their famous mass a change from the merganser, who takes shelter beneath the shadow of the bridge. Reflected on the surface, pearly sky, The Ridge, the blushing indication of blossoms, but nothing like swans in the shallows of our river, returning their portions of light. David Tait iii. iv. |
